Our Milestones
2006
- The number of CACs and ETCs working with The Partnership grows to more than 1,000.
- The region gets through the entire air quality forecasting season with no red air quality days.
- The City Museum signs on as a new partner for 2006.
- Outreach to area students and their families grows significantly, as the Hazelwood and Parkway School Districts joined the University City and Festus districts to distribute air quality information to more than 19,000 students on behalf of The Partnership.
- The Partnership hosts its first-ever lunchbox giveaway to encourage the public to visit www.cleanair-stlouis.com for up-to-date air quality information.
- The number of commuters registered with RideFinders grows to nearly 5,700, with ridesharing programs being offered at more than 900 area employers.
2005
- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency honors the St. Louis Regional
Clean Air Partnership with the 2005 Children's Environmental Health
Recognition Award for its commitment to protecting children from environmental
health risks.
2004
- KMOV awards the grand prize winner of the Green Day Giveaway contest
an ultra-low emissions Honda Civic Hybrid and a year's worth of MetroLink
and MetroBus passes
- Region reports zero orange or red air quality days during 2004 Air
Quality Season
- New partners include St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Post Dispatch,
UMB Bank Pavilion, St. Louis Zoo and Sigma Aldrich
- Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT) issued 175 Tastes of Transits and
signed up an additional 500 new transit commuters
- RideFinders increased numbers for a total of almost 4,400 carpoolers
and vanpoolers along with ridesharing programs at 500+ employers
- "Best Workplace for Commuters" program debuts and 26 area companies
are recognized for their efforts in promoting ridesharing to employees
- Online newsletter, The Clean Air Chronicle debuts to keep partnering
companies and organizations informed during Air Quality Season
2003
- The Green Day Giveaway awards the grand prize winner a Honda Civic
hybrid
- Over 215 new RideFinders carpools are added during the summer's "Choose
a Better Way to Go" promotion
2002
- SLRCAP is awarded the Focus St. Louis "What's Right with the Region"
award
- SLRCAP is awarded the Governor's Environmental Excellence and Pollution
Prevention Award in two categories -- Statewide Excellence and Education
and Outreach
- CACS and ETCs number over 500
2001
- Local Day Care Centers and Hospitals are added to the daily air quality
alert network
- CACs and ETCs number more than 450
- The region gets through the ozone air pollution season with no red
air quality days
- Green Day Giveaway debuts and awards prizes to citizens for each
green air quality forecast plus a grand prize of the Ultimate Commuting
Package (including a new Honda Civic LEV, a bike and bike rack, transit
passes, and walking shoes)
2000
- The Clean Air Pass debuts and sells out during the first week of
availability.
- The St. Louis region gets through the 2000 Ozone Season with just
one exceedence of the one hour standard.
- The Partnership cacs/etc increase to over 350
- Familiarity with air quality terminology is over 85%
- Local high schools call daily for air quality forecasts to decide
when to schedule athletic events and practices
1999
- AQ Card sales top 15,000 with more than a month of sales to go.
- The Partnership CACs/ETCs increase to over 300 participants.
- The Partnership provided free e-mail health alerts to concerned residents.
1998
- Schnucks Markets Inc. joins partnership to sell AQ Cards and promote
clean air.
- The Partnership CACs/ETCs increase to over 250 participants.
- Air quality awareness in the St. Louis Region reaches over 75%.
- The Partnership debuted its website.
- 87% of participants in a Forest Park Community College listening
tour report air quality as a major environmental concern.
1997
- More than 9,000 AQ Cards sold.
- The Partnership CACs/ETCs increase to 150 participants.
- Air Quality awareness in the St. Louis Region reaches over 60%.
1996
- AQ Card Program developed through American Lung Association, KMOV-Television
and Bi-State Development.
- The Partnership earns EPA Region 7's pollution prevention award.
- Missouri and Illinois Department of Transportation promote clean
air through the use of solar powered message boards with the air quality
forecast.
- The St. Louis Science Center provides the air quality forecast on
their highway overpass.
1995
- The St. Louis Regional Clean Air Partnership formed.
- KMOV-TV's 'Can St. Louis Clean the Air?' airs in prime time television.
- The Partnership's Clean Air Coordinators and Employee Transportation
Coordinators (CACs/ETCs) total 20 participants.
1994
- News 4 Gateway Aircast formed - the region's first and official air
quality forecast.
