AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION’S SUSANNAH FUCHS NAMED
SENIOR DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

ST. LOUIS, MO, October 30, 2008... The American Lung Association of the Central States (ALA) recently announced that Susannah Fuchs of Clayton, Mo., has been promoted to Senior Director of Environmental Health.  In this capacity, she will be in charge of air quality and environmental health initiatives for a six-state region which includes: Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Texas. 

As a member of the American Lung Association staff for the past 11 years, Fuchs’ work has focused on outreach and educational initiatives related to environmental health concerns in the St. Louis area. As Senior Director of Environmental Health, Fuchs will be responsible for coalition building, generating community partner support and mission-driven outreach and education in the ALA’s six-state central region.  Prior to her work with the American Lung Association, Fuchs served as Director of Outreach for EarthWays Center.

Fuchs holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from University of California – San Diego and a Masters in Social Work from California State University – Sacramento. 

The American Lung Association is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the American Lung Association today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. The American Lung Association is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies.
